I love football.
I love building things.
This is what happens when the two collide.
It started, as most things do, with the Dutch national team. Watching Oranje — the brilliance, the heartbreak, the chaos — taught me early that football isn't just sport. It is shared language. It is the reason strangers become friends and friends become family. It is ninety minutes where anything can happen and everyone has an opinion.
My first pool was Euro 96, at my father's work. I was hooked immediately. By 1998 I was organizing one myself, collecting predictions, checking scores, and trying to keep the whole thing fair by hand. Since then it has followed me through group chats, scraps of paper, and half-broken spreadsheets cobbled together before every tournament. Who scored the most points? Nobody knows, because the spreadsheet broke in the quarterfinals. Who called the upset? Everyone claims they did.
I kept waiting for someone to build the right tool. Something fast. Something clean. Something that understood what actually matters in a prediction game — the moment before kickoff when you lock in your score, the tension of watching it play out, the satisfaction of being right when nobody else was. Nobody built it. So I did.
The best technology gets out of the way and lets the moment breathe.
I build Koppa the way I believe software should be built: user experience first, performance always. No dark patterns. No bloat. No feature that exists just to exist. Every screen earns its place. Every interaction should feel like it was designed for you — because it was, by someone who uses it himself every matchday.
I am obsessed with the details. The speed at which the app opens. The way a prediction locks in with a single tap. The ranking that updates the moment the final whistle blows. These are not small things. These are the things that make the difference between software you tolerate and software you love.
Koppa is for the people who have a take before kickoff and aren't afraid to commit to it. For the group that has been arguing about football for twenty years and still needs a reason to argue more. For anyone who has ever watched a game and thought: I knew that was going to happen.
I built this for you. I hope you love it as much as I do.
